Rx Drug Abuse: The Johnson County Teen Perspective
“…But it was scary coming down,” described an anonymous Johnson County High School student about her experience using prescription drugs illegally, “My heart was beating fast and I was just trying to catch my breath. I was lying there restless, just wanting to fall asleep, but I couldn’t. It was like I was in a daze, a total zone and I couldn’t do anything.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, prescription drug abuse is “the habitual use of prescription drugs used to alter a person’s mood or state of consciousness.” Recently, prescription drug abuse has affected students all over Indiana, and the numbers continue to grow.
“[It’s popular] because it’s easy to get, easy to use,” said one teen.
